Chocolate tastings will take place throughout the festival, and you don’t need to book in advance – just turn up!

WHERE? Krapperup Castle – The Kitchen Garden
Meet the chocolate makers
Bean to Bar
All participants are bean-to-bar chocolate producers, which means that production begins with the bean and ends with the chocolate. The artisans have control over and insight into the entire production process, own their own factories, and have a close relationship with the farmers who grow the beans.

Höganäs Chocolate
Höganäs Chocolate is hosting the Nordic Craft Chocolate Festival 2025, and it is thanks to them that we have the pleasure of hosting a chocolate festival as part of Skåne Food Fest 2025.
Höganäs Chocolate is a tree-to-bar chocolate maker, which means that the craft begins in their cocoa plantations in Ecuador and ends with finished chocolate at the factory in Höganäs. The family-run business has five generations of cocoa farmers behind it, and it was their love for the Kullahalvön peninsula that led Ana and Gustavo to choose Höganäs as the location for their business.
How did it come to this?
How did an international chocolate festival end up at a Skåne food and drink festival? Ana and Gustavo took part with Höganäs Chocolate at Skåne Food Fest 2024. Shortly afterwards, we were asked if Skåne Food Fest could host Nordic Craft Chocolate in 2025. Each year, a Nordic participant acts as host in their own country, and this year it is Höganäs Chocolate’s turn in Sweden. We share strong values regarding the importance of awareness, dignity and sustainability throughout the entire production process; our love of artisanal craftsmanship is a perfect match; and we simply couldn’t say no.
About the Chocolate Makers
Höganäs Chocolate (Sweden)
Welcome to a wonderful world of chocolate that stretches from the deep forests and lush plantations of Los Rios to the blooming fields of Höganäs. Two communities have become intertwined, united by a love of chocolate. Both places inspire us to create top-class chocolate.
Our Ecuadorian cocoa beans have been harvested by our families for generations. Now the beans are shipped to Sweden, like a love letter across the Atlantic, where they are turned into delicious chocolate.
Enjoy the finer things in life with our exciting selection of sustainable products – perfect if you’re looking for Swedish chocolate makers. Our customers around the world share a passion for high-quality chocolate.
Our aim is to empower everyone in the industry to change it for the better and, together, create a brighter future. Just as family members in previous generations have done for over 100 years, we strive to maintain efficient and safe production.
Fair labour conditions ensure that both people and cocoa trees can thrive, from seed to bean and finally a delicious chocolate bar. The unique fermentation process brings out the flavours of the cocoa. It tastes good and does good.

Cauma Cacao (Spain)
Trufas Martinez, a chocolate maker based in Valencia since 1931, is a leading name in the world of chocolate in Spain.
They continue to produce their own traditional chocolate recipes, pralines, bonbons, their famous truffles — hence the name — and their well-known cubanitos.
To mark their 90th anniversary in 2021, Teresa Ricart Martínez, the third generation of Trufas Martínez, together with her children, created the brand Caūma Cacao, dedicated exclusively to chocolate making under the ‘Bean to Bar’ philosophy and process. Their aim is to produce chocolate using fine-flavour cocoa from various origins, free from allergens, thanks to the construction of a bubble-style workshop that prevents cross-contamination from lactose, nuts, gluten, etc.
Cioccolato del Monviso (Italy)
We are artisans in the modern age, and we love speciality chocolate more than anything else — it has become our everyday choice.
Cioccolato del Monviso represents a conscious choice in the production of artisanal chocolate, beginning with the selection of the finest cocoa from around the world and transforming it into exceptional chocolate, crafted at the foot of the ‘Stone King’ (Mount Monviso) in our own workshop using grinders made from the very stone of Monviso.
We process it slowly, with respect and care.
This approach follows the ‘from bean to bar’ (B2B) philosophy — from cocoa beans to chocolate bars.
The leading chocolatier is Riccardo Depetris of Pasticceria del Viale / Depetris i Ciculaté in Revello, a family business that has been in the world of pastry-making since 1976.

Friis-Holm Chocolate (Denmark)
Friis-Holm Chocolate was founded by Mikkel Friis-Holm, a Danish chef, who set up the company with the aim of becoming one of the top three chocolate makers in the world, guided by his mission: ‘best in the world, best for the world’.
How it all began
Mikkel worked in San Francisco in the late 1990s. It was there that he came across the newly established Scharffenberger Chocolate, and Mikkel’s interest in chocolate began to grow.
Through his collaboration with Scharffenberger Chocolate, Mikkel came into contact with a major cocoa project in Nicaragua in 2007. Danida, a Danish government-sponsored development organisation, supported the idea that farmers should grow high-quality cocoa in order to improve their incomes.
Mikkel began working closely with the local farmers involved in the Danida project, and even today the cocoa beans from Nicaraguan farmers remain a core part of our business.
A chocolate factory in Denmark
The early years, from 2007 to 2013, were spent building up expertise and learning the craft. The chocolate was produced in collaboration with a long-established French chocolate factory in the Rhône region – Bonnat Chocolatier. But Mikkel wanted to make the entire product himself. From cocoa bean to finished chocolate – from bean to bar.
In 2014, Friis-Holm Chocolate A/S was founded with the help of small investors and the Danish Structural Bank, ‘Vækstfonden’. The first batch of Danish-produced chocolate came off the production line in 2015, and since then everything has been made at the factory right here in Denmark.
In 2023, the family behind Hansen Is (Hansen Ice Cream) became co-owners with Mikkel. And to this day, all our work is guided by Mikkel’s motto:‘Best in the world, best for the world.’

Kaitxo (Spain)
Kaitxo is an award-winning Spanish bean-to-bar chocolate maker and coffee producer based in Balmaseda, in the Basque Country, Spain, founded in 2017 by a family with a passion for gastronomy and high-quality cocoa and coffee. They source fine cocoa beans from around the world, which are then roasted and transformed into single-origin, artisanal chocolates that bring out the natural flavours of the cocoa.
Maychoco (Spain)
Maychoco first took shape in the mind of Mayte Sánchez. In 2019, she managed to make her dream come true by opening a bakery in Benajarafe (Málaga), where she starts with cocoa beans from the world’s finest plantations. With her own hands, using entirely artisanal methods, she roasts those beans and oversees the entire process, right through to tempering them, to transform them into a fine chocolate of the highest quality, with an aroma that delights the palate of everyone who tastes it.

NearyNógs Chocolate Makers (Ireland)
NearyNóg’s Stoneground Chocolate are Northern Ireland’s first bean-to-bar craft chocolate makers.
We ethically source single-origin, speciality cocoa beans from farms in Central America, South America, the Caribbean islands and West Africa.
We then hand-sort every cocoa bean, gently roast it, stone-grind it, age it and then temper it into beautiful chocolate bars.
We aim to showcase the amazing flavours and tasting notes characteristic of each cacao bean’s origin. We do this without additives, emulsifiers or artificial flavourings.
We aim to use packaging made from recycled materials that is either recyclable and/or compostable after use. This isn’t always possible, but it will become easier as we grow, as our business will be able to buy better packaging the more chocolate we sell. Our postal boxes and paper tape are also made from recycled materials!
Tucked away between the Mourne Mountains and the Irish Sea along the scenic Mourne Coast, you’ll find us making chocolate in our small-batch factory. We built this as a family, with friends and neighbours, and always with you in mind. It’s a place for making chocolate, bringing people together and sharing stories.
