Bean to Bar

About the Chocolate Makers
Höganäs Chocolate (Sweden)
Welcome to a wonderful world of chocolate that stretches from the deep forests and lush plantations of Los Rios to the blooming fields of Höganäs. Two communities have intertwined, united by the love of chocolate. Both places inspire us to create top-class chocolate.
Our Ecuadorian cocoa beans have been harvested by our families for generations. Now the beans are shipped to Sweden, like a love letter across the Atlantic, where they are turned into delicious chocolate.
Enjoy the good things in life with our exciting selection of sustainable products – perfect when looking for Swedish chocolate makers. Our customers around the world share a passion for high quality chocolate.
Our goal is to empower everyone in the industry to change it for the better and together create a brighter future. Just as family members in previous generations have done for over 100 years, we strive to maintain efficient and safe production.
Fair labor conditions ensure that both people and cocoa trees can thrive, from seed to bean and finally a delicious chocolate bar. The unique fermentation process brings the flavors of cocoa to life. It tastes good and does good.

Cauma Cacao (Spain)
Trufas Martinez, chocolate maker since 1931 in Valencia, is a reference in the world of chocolate in Spain.
They continue to produce their own traditional chocolate recipes, pralines, bonbons, their famous truffles — hence the name — and their well-known cubanitos.
On their 90th anniversary in 2021, Teresa Ricart Martínez, third generation of Trufas Martinez, together with her children, created the brand Caūma Cacao, dedicated exclusively to chocolate making under the ”Bean to Bar” philosophy and process. Their goal is to produce chocolate with Fine Flavour Cacao from different origins, free from allergens, thanks to the construction of a bubble-style workshop that avoids cross-contamination from lactose, nuts, gluten, etc.
Cioccolato del Monviso (Italy)
We are artisans in a modern age, and we love specialty chocolate more than anything else — it has become our everyday choice.
Cioccolato del Monviso is a deliberate choice in the production of artisanal chocolate, starting with the selection of the finest cocoa from around the world and transforming it into excellent chocolate, crafted at the foot of the “Stone King” (Monviso mountain) in our own workshop using grinders made from the very stone of Monviso.
We process it slowly, with respect and care.
This working method follows the “from bean to bar” (B2B) philosophy — from cocoa beans to chocolate bars.
The definitive chocolate maker is Riccardo Depetris of Pasticceria del Viale / Depetris i Ciculaté of Revello, a family business in the world of pastry since 1976.

Friis-Holm Chocolate (Denmark)
Friis-Holm Chocolate is founded by Mikkel Friis-Holm, a Danish chef, who founded the company from a desire to become one of the top 3 chocolate makers in the world with his mission; best in the world, best for the world.
How it started
Mikkel worked in San Francisco in the late 90s. Here, he met the the newly started Scharffenberger Chocolate, and Mikkel’s interest in chocolate began to grow.
Through his collaboration with Scharffenberger chocolate, Mikkel got in contact with a major cacao project in Nicaragua in 2007. Danida, a Danish government sponsored development organization, supported the idea that farmers should grow high-quality cacao in order to improve the farmers’ income.
Mikkel started a close cooperation with the local farmers involved in the Danida project, and even today the cacao beans from the Nicaraguan farmers are a core part of our business.
A chocolate factory in Denmark
The first years, from 2007 to 2013, were spent building knowledge and learning the craft. The chocolate was produced in collaboration with an old French chocolate factory in Rhone – Bonnat Chocolatier. But Mikkel wanted to make the whole product himself. From cacao bean to finished chocolate – from bean to bar.
In 2014 Friis-Holm Chocolate A/S was founded with the help of small investors and the Danish Structural Bank “Vækstfonden”. The first Danish produced chocolate ran through the machines in 2015, and since then everything has been made at the factory right here in Denmark.
In 2023, the family behind Hansen Is (Hansen Ice cream) entered into ownership with Mikkel. And still today all our work is based on Mikkel’s motto: Best in the world, best for the world.

Maychoco (Spain)
Maychoco was born first in the mind of Mayte Sánchez. In 2019 she managed to make her dream come true with the opening of a bakery in Benajarafe (Malaga) where it starts with cocoa beans from the best plantations in the world. With her own hands, in a totally artisan way, she roasts those beans and makes the whole process until tempering those seeds to turn them into a fine chocolate of aroma of the best quality that revolutionizes the palate of everyone who tastes it.

NearyNógs Chocolate Makers (Ireland)
NearyNógs Stoneground Chocolate are Northern Ireland’s first bean to bar, craft chocolate makers.
We ethically source single origin, speciality Cacao Beans from farms in Central America, South America, the Caribbean islands & West Africa.
We then hand sort every cacao bean, gently roast, stone grind, age and then temper into beautiful chocolate bars.
We aim to showcase the amazing origin flavours and tasting notes in every cacao bean origin. We do this without additives, emulsifiers or artificial flavouring.
We aim to use packaging that is made from recycled sources and is either recyclable and/or compostable after use. This is not always possible but will become easier as we grow as our business can buy better packaging the more chocolate we sell. Our postal boxes and paper tape are also made from recycled materials!
Nestled between the Mourne Mountains and the Irish sea along the scenic Mourne Coast, you can find us making chocolate in our small batch factory. We built this as a family with friends and neighbours and always with you in mind. It’s a place for chocolate making, people gathering and story telling.
